(Hattiesburg, MS) Last Friday night Ben returned to Hattiesburg Speedway after numerous rainouts, frontend repairs and a few long nights with contractors regarding construction of a new house. “It felt good to get our Elite Chassis back out onto the track for another night of racing,” Ben commented. “I guess I just had to apply the old ‘It’s just like riding a bicycle’ approach as we drew a big number for heat race line ups.”

Ben started 5th in the second heat and knew he had his work cut out for him to get to the front. When the green flag flew, Ben realized that although a little rough, the top grove was pretty racy. Ben methodically made his way through the field, assumed the lead and took the checkers with a comfortable margin.

With the heat race win, Ben was posted outside the front row for the A-Main start. Minor chassis adjustments and a check of tire pressures and he was set. At the drop of the green flag, Ben once again used the top grove to make a run on the pole position car. As they raced out of turn two, Ben edged ahead and grabbed the lead entering turn three. Spinning cars in the rear of the pack blocked the middle of turns three and four as the caution flew negating Ben pass for the lead. After the restart, it took Ben approximately three laps to battle back to the front of the field. Only one other caution flag, just past the race mid-point, slowed Ben’s pace and he stretched his lead. When the checkers flew he had a comfortable straight-away advantage.

“Our Genesis shocks really worked well in the rough spots and our Thunder’s Custom Engine was strong all night,” Ben stated after the race.
