Friday July 13th was not a good race night for Ben at Hattiesburg Speedway. On the second start attempt of his heat race, Ben got into the front stretch wall, cut a right front tire and returned to the pits. After changing the wheel and tire, Ben noticed his hard landing had caused severe damage to his aluminum oil pan. “With the front of the pan caved in I didn’t want to run the risk of damaging something internally,” Ben commented. After removing his main Mullins bullet, Ben installed his spare Mullins-by-Thunder motor. Friday the 27th Ben returned to Hattiesburg Speedway, stayed off the wall, won his heat and then cruised to his 4th win of 2018.

On Saturday August 4th Ben made the trip to Whynot Motorsports Park to see how his spare motor would fare at the “House of Hook”. This notorious “hammer down”, momentum track is tough on any power plant because there’s just no time to let it breathe. Ben developed a right front brake issue in his heat race and finished 4th. Rectifying the problem, Ben made adjustments for the main event. Starting second row outside for the feature, Ben new he would need to make a quick move on the start for an early advance. At the drop of the green flag Ben dove to the bottom as the other front runners maneuvered to the high side for a spot on the cushion. Surprisingly enough, Ben came off turn 2 with the lead and remained on point and captured his 5th win of the season.

Ben will be on vacation for the next two weeks before he returns to action. Thanks to all of our fans and sponsors.
