BEN SHEDS MONKEY, TAKES FIRST VICTORY OF 2011

(Hattiesburg, MS) Rodney Wing, owner of Whynot Motorsports Park, may want to be on the lookout for an agitated monkey loose on the grounds of his racing complex. Saturday night Ben won his heat race and then lined up on the pole for the A-Main and won it going away; back in victory lane, GO AWAY MONKEY!
“This has been one of the toughest seasons to date, full of bad wrecks, unlucky calls and unfortunate racing situations. At one point I thought I needed to call Robert “SeatBoy” DeRosa at ButlerBuilt Race Products to have a new seat made just to accommodate that dang monkey that had been on my back the first half of the season,” Ben laughingly commented after Saturday’s refreshing win. “We’ve really been working hard to figure out exactly what our Hughes Chassis likes. So with better luck and clean runs recently, we’ve finally zeroed in on both front spring and shock combinations plus rear suspension bar angles for good forward drive. Getting our sponsor’s logos back to victory lane means more than anything,” Ben added.
Ben had considered traveling to West Plains, Missouri next weekend for a big USRA Modified event but work schedules and local commitments have altered plans. He will remain in the local area next weekend and try to build on recent success. “The big boys of the USMTS circuit were racing for $20,000 to win this weekend in Minnesota and it would have been fun to race against the best, but tonight’s win felt pretty darn good,” Ben told his gathering in the pits.
It may not have been “Big Foot” but as Ben left the pits his headlights outlined the eerie shadow of a sulking hairy ape-like figure, STAY AWAY MONKEY!
