TOP 5 REBOUND FROM THE REAR

(Hattiesburg, MS) Friday night Ben took his #34 LUCAS OIL/Schoenfeld Headers/Genesis Shocks/Brinn Transmissions/Hughes modified to Hattiesburg Motorsports Park for a night of local racing. Hattiesburg has seen a resurgence lately in the modified field with 15-20 racers entering the pit gate on a weekly basis.
Ben drew a 6th place starting position for his heat race and at the drop of the green flag started making his way to the front. Navigating to the front in a short eight lap race is difficult but Ben made it to third and was challenging for second as the checkers flew.
Ben lined up 5th for the start of the feature and felt as though his gear ratio selection and suspension setup, even though different from what he’d used in the past, was proper for track conditions. At the drop of the green Ben made a charge to the front but a lap four caution reset the field. Ben initially lined up on the inside of the second row but track officials later moved him to the outside. As the green flag flew again the leaders entered turn one and made contact sending them both up the track. In an effort to avoid the two leaders Ben got on the brakes hard and spun to the outside in an evasive maneuver.
Ben went to the rear of the field and when the green light came on, Ben’s fuse was lit! The remainder of the race went green and Ben worked the high side to perfection and finished 5th. “We really had a good car tonight and I hated that the front row tangled on the re-start. I just ran out of time when the race went green to checker but I know we’ve got a great setup for when we return next week,” Ben stated after the race.
